Program Overview
With equal emphasis on musicianship and pedagogy, the B.M.E. prepares you to teach vocal, instrumental, or general music in Florida public or private schools. You’ll progress through four semesters of harmony and sight-singing, conducting, music history, technology, class methods (strings, winds, percussion, choral, elementary general), and extensive field experiences—culminating in a 12-credit, full-semester teaching internship. Graduates qualify to seek a Professional Florida Teaching Certificate (Music K-12) after completing the state exams.
